Weld Cleaning

Weld cleaning and heat tint removal

Weld cleaning is normally carried out for appearance, for inspection, or as preparation for a subsequent process. The objective determines the parameters.

Applications

  • Fabrication and welded assemblies
  • Oxidation and scale adjacent to welds
  • Heat tint on stainless fabrications
  • Preparation prior to inspection
  • Preparation prior to coating or further processing

A note on corrosion resistance

Statements about the corrosion performance of a cleaned stainless surface depend on the resulting surface condition and on any subsequent treatment. We do not make corrosion resistance claims unless the finish has been specified, achieved and, where required, verified.

Claims about final corrosion resistance are only made where the resulting surface condition and any subsequent treatment justify them.
