Surface Reveal

Indicative Pricing

Priced on the surface, not on a guess.

Every surface behaves differently, so Surface Reveal prices projects according to the material, coating or contamination, surface condition, access and required finish. For many projects we can provide an initial budget estimate from photographs and approximate dimensions.

Laser cleaning

Day and attendance rates

Starting prices for the most common ways a project is carried out.

Workshop cleaning
From £150Suitable for smaller components, parts, brackets, tools and removable items.
Mobile site attendance
From £395For straightforward local projects with good access and standard site conditions.
Half day
From £650For larger cleaning, restoration and coating-removal projects.
Full day
From £1,150For commercial and industrial projects requiring a full working day on site.
Multi-day projects
Quoted individuallyReduced project rates may be available where equipment can remain set up and productive across consecutive days.

Area-based pricing

Priced by the square metre

Where the surface and cleaning rate are predictable, projects may be priced by area.

Light corrosion / surface oxidation
From £35–£50 per m²
Rust and general surface restoration
From £50–£90 per m²
Paint and coating removal
From £65–£125 per m²
Heavy, multi-layer or difficult coatings
From £100 per m²
Detailed, sensitive or specialist restoration
From £125 per m²

These rates are indicative only. Final pricing depends on the substrate, coating thickness, geometry, access, required finish and measured cleaning productivity.

Complex items such as railings, gates, machinery and decorative metalwork are normally assessed individually rather than priced solely on their physical surface area.

Heritage & specialist work

Slower, more controlled cleaning

Historic materials, delicate substrates and high-value items normally require additional assessment and slower, more controlled cleaning.

Specialist restoration
From £175 per hour
Heritage and conservation work
From £200 per hour

Where appropriate, a representative test area will be completed before the full scope and price are confirmed.

Test areas

Workshop test sample
From £95
On-site test area
From £250
Commercial / technical test programme
From £395

For larger projects, agreed test-area charges may be credited against the final contract value.

Site surveys

Initial assessment from photographs and project information is normally free of charge. Where a physical inspection is required:

Local site survey
From £150
Commercial / industrial survey
From £250
Heritage or technical assessment
From £350

Survey charges may be credited against qualifying projects where instructed to proceed.

Access & additional costs

What sits outside the standard rate

Standard pricing assumes safe, straightforward access to the work area. Where additional equipment or specialist arrangements are required, these are charged separately.

  • Scaffolding
  • MEWP or cherry-picker hire
  • Mobile access towers
  • Specialist lifting equipment
  • Traffic or pedestrian management
  • Road or pavement permits
  • Specialist containment
  • Additional extraction or filtration
  • Hazardous coating testing
  • Hazardous waste disposal
  • Specialist PPE or RPE
  • Parking, ferries or tolls
  • Accommodation and subsistence for distant projects
  • Out-of-hours or shutdown working

Third-party access equipment such as scaffolding and MEWPs is not included within standard laser-cleaning rates unless specifically stated in the quotation.

Where possible, these costs will be identified separately so that the client can clearly see the cost of the Surface Reveal works and any third-party access or site requirements.

Cost factors

What affects the price?

The main factors are:

Surface area

Larger projects generally benefit from more efficient setup and mobilisation.

Material

Steel, stainless steel, aluminium, timber, stone and historic materials can require very different cleaning approaches.

What is being removed

Light oxidation may clean quickly, while heavy corrosion, multiple paint layers, epoxy or industrial coatings may require considerably more time.

Geometry

Flat plate is much faster to treat than machinery, railings, pipework or ornate architectural metalwork.

Access

Ground-level workshop work is significantly simpler than work requiring scaffolding, MEWPs or restricted access.

Required finish

Removing loose corrosion is different from producing a consistent restoration-quality finish.

Site conditions

Ventilation, public access, nearby equipment, fire risks and additional safety controls can affect both the method and cost.

Get an initial estimate

For most straightforward projects, send us photographs, approximate dimensions, the project postcode, the material if known, and what you need removed. We can usually use this information to provide an initial budget indication.

For complex, industrial or heritage projects we may recommend a site survey and representative test area before providing a fixed quotation.

All prices are indicative starting prices and are subject to assessment. VAT is additional where applicable.
